This course reviews the strategic competitive advantage of renewable liquid fuels and energy efficiency as a proven renewable and sustainable pathway to decarbonization. It compares various methods and costs per home to achieve net zero carbon with alternatives including deep energy retrofits, electric heat pumps combined with solar photovoltaics, offshore wind, battery backup, hybrid liquid fuel heating systems, and more. 100% Renewable Liquid Heating - Renewable Diesel & Biodiesel Blends
The National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) in conjunction with Chevron are in the midst of a 150-sites field study in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, where blends of Renewable Diesel and Biodiesel are being distributed throughout 2025. This is one of the largest field studies that the NORA team have initiated and the goals are to see how 100% renewable fuels stand up over an entire heating season. NORA and Chevron will have some very exciting observations and technical data to share with those in attendance.

Venting Oil With Polypropylene
A discussion of low temperature venting of oil-fired equipment with polypropylene. We will review the challenges facing our industry with regards to venting and explain how dilution air venting will help us overcome commonplace chimney issues. This will allow oil-fired equipment to better compete with high-efficiency gas-fired equipment. Energy Kinetics has long term proven performance with dilution air since 2011, and with polypropylene since 2014, achieving over 90% efficiency in a non-condensing oil-fired boiler.

This course is designed to provide the options available for gas line installations. We will discuss the different materials and connections associated with each method. Most common materials are steel pipe, polyethylene, copper tubing and CSST. The reasons for choosing certain materials will also be highlighted. Codes and line sizing are a major factor in gas line installations and may determine which material you will use.

A2L Refrigerants
Legislation enacted in 2020 authorized the EPA to phase down the production and use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and required HVAC manufacturers to transition to the next level of low-GWP (global warming potential) refrigerants for all new residential and commercial ducted HVAC systems manufactured as of Jan 1, 2025, and installed within a limited time frame. What does this mean to you as a contractor or building owner? This session will discuss the transition to A2L refrigerants.
